St. Jude Church offers a special Children’s Liturgy of the Word (C.L.O.W.) for children during the 11:00 a.m. Mass each Sunday during the school year.
This program provides a unique opportunity for the children to hear the Word of God “broken open” (the translation of the Greek word “homily”) at their own level. Using special resources, a trained “Leader” facilitates the informal session, which takes place in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at the same time the rest of the assembly is participating in the Liturgy of the Word in the Church. The children are invited to hear the Word in language they can more easily understand (from the “Lectionary for Masses with Children”) and engage in a discussion about the relevance of the readings of the Mass in their own lives.
Leaders use the “Leaders Guide” published by Treehause Publications.
The children who participate also receive a special “Bulletin” published by J.S. Paluch Publications, which allows them to continue the lesson at home with their families.
No registration is necessary for this program.
Children are called forward and dismissed from the assembly following the Opening Prayer of the Mass. They return to their families following the Homily.
